What is a Community Supported Bakehouse?

Gardiner Bakehouse is a Community Supported Bakehouse (CSB), a unique type of subscription program that fosters a direct connection between artisan bakers and the community they serve.

When bread-shareholders commit to purchasing baked goods on a regular basis, they receive discounted pricing, while helping to create a secure and predictable market for the bakehouse and minimize food waste and lost revenue from products that might otherwise go unsold. This, in turn, allows us to create strong partnerships with local farmers that foster a more sustainable food system.

By becoming a bread-shareholder, you are not only indulging in delicious baked goods, but your commitment makes you an integral part of reviving the traditions behind baking fresh bread, and the restoration of grain production in the Hudson Valley.

SPRING 2025 DETAILS:

**Please note: this Spring, our Breadshare pick-up will be on Tuesdays only**

The Spring Subscription starts April 1, 2025 and runs 12 weeks through June 17, 2025.

Day and Location:

Pick up your reserved loaf every Tuesday between 1pm and 6pm

12 weeks Country Sourdough ($8/week + one time $4 transaction fee = $100)
12 weeks Bread of the Week ($11/week + one time $4 transaction fee = $136)

Subscription Choices

Bakehouse Sourdough

A loaf of Country Sourdough, every week! This is our house bread, which is always naturally leavened and long-fermented, and made with high-extraction flour milled from regionally-grown wheat. This rustic bread keeps for a week if you slice as you need it, and put the "cut side" facing down on a cutting board or in a bread box, or freeze for later use. The first couple of days can be enjoyed fresh. The next couple of days we recommend toasting. In the off-chance there is anything left by the end of the week -- you will fall in love with easy-to-make breadcrumbs and croutons.

Bakehouse Sourdough

Like a little variety in your life? The Bread of the Week Variety Subscription features a different sourdough-based bread each week. Variety examples include, but are not limited to: Kalamata olive, jalapeño & cheddar, roasted garlic, cranberries & walnuts, cinnamon raisin, polenta & rosemary, heritage grain, focaccia, ciabatta, fougasse to name a few! Please note -- this is a "baker's choice," meaning the weekly selection is picked by the baking staff.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

SUBSCRIBER RESPONSIBILITY: It is the subscriber's responsibility to collect their weekly order at the designated place and time.

MISSED PICKUPS: In the event you are unable to pick up your order, please send a family member, friend or neighbor to pick up your freshly baked bread! Unfortunately, we are unable to provide refunds or credits for forgotten or missed pickups. Unclaimed orders will be graciously donated or shared with the community.

SHARED RISK: We begin preparing your baked goods three days before pickup. If unforeseen emergency circumstances prevent us from fulfilling your order, such as hazardous weather conditions or sudden staff illness, we do not offer refunds or credits for that week's order. Operating a small business comes with its challenges, and your support through such moments is what anchors our bakery. We are asking our each subscriber to share a tiny bit of risk, rather than Gardiner Bakehouse having to shoulder the collective loss alone. We will always strive to fulfill subscriptions 100% of the time!
